Q: Why did you decide to participate in the Cardio Flow Design internship?
This internship opportunity came to me when I was still in university for my undergrad. I was looking into an opportunity to work with technology which was innovative, new and made me use the skills which I wanted to hone practically. Cardio Flow Design was just the place for me to understand the intricacies of fluid dynamics and the various considerations which are needed before simulation even begins. The company also gives a prospective to work on its applications which are a step ahead in medical diagnosis.

Q: What was the internship work like?
The internship work related to automated mesh generation and working on software development of various applications. I started working on the mesh generation project which had us understand the basic algorithms of mesh generation processes and scripting which is required to automate the entire process smoothly. My team and I also worked with interesting applications in our pursuit for automation to realize the best solution out of them. We also worked on applications within the company like iTEcho® and iTFlow® for a better user experience and for us to understand the workings and the impact of these applications in real life.

Q: Did you find any aspects of your internship experience particularly rewarding?
I feel I had good job satisfaction as the work-life balance is respected thoroughly within the company and my managers were considerate and always helpful. The work is fulfilling in the company as you keep working on yourself to improve and push your boundaries but also you understand that the application you build or the simulations you conduct is helping personnel in the medical field which adds to your motivations.

Q: What has changed among you as a result of participating in the internship?
For me personally, it was the opportunity to come to Japan and work with the talented personnel at Cardio Flow Design Inc. Secondly, the work which I conducted made me learn and implement a lot of technology and theory which I might not have had full hands-on experience in university projects.
