Greetings! Nathon here from the software side of the company. I mainly work on VR software and other smaller programmes.
Not so long ago I had the opportunity of going to Medica in Düsseldorf, and I have to say I had a great time.
I have been to two events before this, that being AHA and ESC, but Medica has been the most fun so far. Also one of the largest events I have personally seen.
One of my responsibilities was to give a 5 minute pitch about an overview of the company and show some of our software, such as iTSurgery and our VR prototype. I tend to get stage fright, so at first I was rather stressed, but during the presentation and after, I felt great. After this there was a networking event. I was able to talk to a few others at the stand and have a drink or two.
Later in the event there was a second smaller event for a coffee meet. It was nice to have technical discussions with other exhibitors. One of the interactions of note was with a company called TDK. Kisako from management and I had some time, so we visited their booth and got a great demo of their magnetic scanner.
At our booth I even saw some familiar faces from previous events. I had made some keychains as keepsakes, and they ran out on the first day! People do like a freebie. After some initial setup, everything was running smoothly, and people enjoyed the demos. Demos being of iTSurgery and iTFlow.
We had a few booths close to ours, it was great seeing what other tech is coming out of Tokyo!
Exploring Germany was great too, sightseeing and trying food were highlights. Seeing Cologne Cathedral in person was particularly memorable.
It was such a pleasure to go, and I hope it’s possible to go next year!
