Hello, my name is Kai.
My journey in the water started long before I ever touched a water polo ball. Back in elementary school, I was a swimmer. I spent countless hours practicing strokes, diving off the blocks, and racing against the clock. At the time, I thought swimming would always be my thing.
But everything changed in junior high school when I discovered water polo.
At first, it was overwhelming. Unlike swimming, where the focus is individual, water polo demands coordination, strategy, and constant communication with teammates—all while staying afloat and under pressure. I was hooked immediately. It combined everything I loved
about being in the water with a whole new set of challenges.
Throughout high school, water polo became my passion. It pushed me to grow, not just physically but mentally. Early morning practices and tough matches taught me discipline and persistence. The bonds I built with my teammates—through both wins and losses—are some of the strongest I’ve ever known.
Now, as a university student, I’m still in the pool, playing the sport that has shaped so much of who I am. It’s not always easy to balance academics and training, but the lessons I’ve learned from water polo—resilience, teamwork, and commitment—help me both in and out
of the pool.
Looking back, I’m grateful that swimming led me to something even bigger. And I’m excited to see where the water takes me next.
