Four-dimensional flow magnetic resonance imaging study to explain high prevalence of pulmonary vein stump thrombus after left upper lobectomy
Currently, it is known that cerebral infarction develops after left upper lobectomy, and the cause is thought to pulmonary vein stump thrombus. However, the detection method and countermeasures have not been established. They performed the 4D Flow MRI on 40 patients who underwent lobectomy to investigate the mechanism of pulmonary vein stump thrombus after left upper lobectomy. The pulmonary veins' blood flow pattern is evaluated using the pathline, which is a function of iTFlow (https://cfd.life/itflow).
From the results of this paper, it is shown that analysis of the blood flow pattern of the pulmonary vein can be expected in the future to identify the high-risk group of t pulmonary vein stump thrombus after the lobotomy.
